Although born in Chicago, Jonas Bledsoe was raised in Winnetka, IL. In 1954, his father Sean died, and his mother, Denise, remained unmarried and raised Jonas alone in their home in Winnetka, IL. Jonas began schooling at Crow Island Elementary, proceeding on to attend Washburn Middle School and New Trier High School.
