About

Besides his work on Bionic Woman, Rob McLachlan has an extensive filmography as a cinematographer. For film, Rob has been Director of Photography for movies such as The First Season (1988), My Boss's Daughter (2003), and Final Destination 3 (2006). He has also been cinematographer for other television series such as Sea Hunt (1987), Millennium (1996-1999), and Tarzan (2003).

Rob was also camera operator for the television series Sea Hunt (1987), and the films Watchers (1988), Border Town (1990), and Run (1991). He was director and writer for the documentary Killer Whales in the Wild (1989), and has starred in several documentaries about the making of films and television series he has shot.

  • By the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), Rob was thrice nominated (1998, 1999, 2000) for category Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Regular Series for episodes of TV series Millennium. The ASC also nominated him in 2001 for category Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Movies of the Week/Mini-Series'/Pilot for Cable or Pay TV for TV film High Noon (2000).
  • Rob has won six awards from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC). In 1993, he won Best Cinematography in Theatrical Feature for film Impolite (1992), and 1997-1999 (three years straight) he won Best Cinematography in TV Series for Millennium. In 2001, he won Best Cinematography in TV Drama for the pilot episode of The Lone Gunmen. In 2004, he won Best Cinematography in Theatrical Feature for film Willard (2003).

Trivia

  • Rob McLachlan was born in San Francisco, CA, but he grew up in Vancouver, Canada. He is a member of both the American and Canadian Society of Cinematographers.
  • He went to both the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.
  • Rob founded Omni Film Productions in Vancouver in 1979, but he left Omni in 1987 to concentrate on cinematography.
