About
Besides his work on Bionic Woman, Isaiah Washington's principal and recurring role for television series was as Dr. Preston Burke on Grey's Anatomy (2006-2007). Isaiah has also had guest roles in a multitude of television series. His single-episode guest roles include parts on series Law & Order (1991), Homicide: Life on the Street (1994), NYPD Blue (1995), Touched by an Angel (2001), and All My Children (2001). Isaiah had recurring guest series roles as Andre Morgan on New York Undercover (1996), Dr. Charles Roberts on Living Single (1996), Michael Rivers on Ally McBeal (1998), and Miles on Soul Food (2000).
Isaiah Washington's many acting film roles include portraying a Hustler in Strictly Business (1991), Kyle in Get on the Bus (1996), Frank Louis Beechum in True Crime (1999), Mac in Romeo Must Die (2000), Homer in The Moguls (2005) and Father Andre James in The Least of These (2008). He has also acted in television films including as Blue in Mr. and Mrs. Loving (1996), Adult Willie Mays in Soul of the Game (1996), and Dwight Gooden in Joe Torre: Curveballs Along the Way (1997).
In addition to acting, Isaiah Washington was associate producer of film Mixing Nia (1998) and producer of film Dead Birds (2004). He was a presenter at the 2006 American Music Awards, and honoree at the 14th Annual Inner City Destiny Awards (2006).
Notes
- Isaiah Washington was nominated in 2006 and won in 2007 a Screen Actors Guild award in category Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for series Grey's Anatomy.
- Isaiah also won the NAACP's Image award for category Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for series Grey's Anatomy in both 2006 and 2007, and was nominateed in 2002 for category Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special for television film Dancing in September (2000).
Trivia
- After Isaiah Washington left Howard University as Theater Arts major, he became one of the original members of CityKids Repertory, a theater company run by the CityKids Foundation.
- His official website is also that of Coalhouse Productions, an organization he founded to get food to the needed in Los Angeles.
- In June 2007, Isaiah was reported to have used an anti-gay slur on-set and his contract was not renewed for the fourth season of Grey's Anatomy. It was announced that he was added to the cast of Bionic Woman shortly thereafter.
