About
Besides his work on Bionic Woman, Dave Kalstein was director and writer for the short film Recess (2004) which aired at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. Before his film career, he was a staffer for GQ magazine writing about style and fashion.
In 2006, St. Martin's press published Dave Kalstein's first novel entitled Prodigy, a science-fiction murder mystery set in a boarding school in 2036 where all of the students are child "prodigies". Intrepid Pictures is producing the motion picture version of his novel, and Dave was contracted to also write the screenplay adapation for it.
Dave directed and wrote the play Noblesse Oblige, which debuted February 22, 2007, at Stages Theatre Center in Hollywood, California. It is produced by the Red Weather Theatre Company.
He has teamed with author Bret Easton Ellis to create the television series The Canyons, a television series which was purchased by Showtime and initially scheduled to air by the end of 2007.
Trivia
- Dave Kalstein was raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and attended Bloomfield High School.
- In 1999, he earned a degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania and moved to New York City to work for GQ magazine.
- After he sold his first screenplay to United Artists and moved to Hollywood, Dave wrote a feature article about the experience for GQ entitled "Screw You GQ, I'm Going To Hollywood." It was published in March 2003.
